Under the White Plains Supplemental Building Code, larger heating and cooling systems require that a Licensed Operating Engineer be on staff in all buildings which utilize a high pressure boiler and/or a chiller rated over fifty (50) ton capacity. To that end, there is a bi-annual examination by the Board to test an individual’s competency with operating the aforementioned equipment. The Board consists of two (2) Licensed Boiler Stationary Engineers, one (1) Licensed Refrigeration Stationary Engineer, one (1) Licensed Professional Engineer, the Building Commissioner, or their duly authorized representative.
