The City of White Plains adopted a "Climate Smart Communities” Pledge on September 2, 2014, recognizing the threat of climate change to our City operations, citizens, and the planet and outlining initial steps that should be taken to mitigate this threat, increase energy efficiency, and build resilience and sustainability in our City.
The Task Force is charged with the following:
· developing a strategy and work plan for establishing a baseline for the City's current emissions;
· recommending reduction targets;
· identifying new strategies for reductions and energy efficiency; and
· recommending ways in which these strategies can be incorporated into the City's economic development and planning efforts.
