Vital Records

We only house vital records for those who were born, died or obtained their marriage license within the city limits of White Plains. 

WHO CAN REQUEST RECORDS

Please be aware that vital records ARE NOT public information. The following are requirements for each type of record:

Birth - Certificates are only available to the person named on the certificate (18 years or older) and parents named on the record. 

Death - Certificates are available to parents, a spouse named on the record, an adult child with a copy of a birth record listing parents' names matching those on the record, and a sibling who must present a copy of a birth record listing parents' names that match those on the record.

Marriage - Certificates are only available to the applicants listed on the record.

HOW TO REQUEST RECORDS

In-person - You can come to our office from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm for same-day documents.  No appointment necessary

By mail - The instructions are listed on each application. Processing times can range from three (3) to five (5) days.  We do our best to fulfill the requests in a timely manner.
