On September 8, 2009, a local law was adopted, amending chapters two through four of the City’s Municipal Code, adding a new division entitled "Room Occupancy Tax." As a result of this new law, there is a tax of 3% imposed upon the rent for every occupancy of a room or rooms in a hotel/motel in the City of White Plains, except that the tax shall not be imposed upon a permanent resident or exempt occupant.
