The White Plains Youth Bureau will introduce its new Flight Simulator as part of its Aviation Academy Program on Thursday, January 23rd at 3:30 p.m. in the Rotunda at White Plains City Hall.
The Aviation Academy Program, now in its 2nd full year, provided instruction to over 300 White Plains youth in 2019. The aviation curriculum offered is designed to teach students about aviation history and aircraft flight principles, as well as increase their knowledge about careers in aviation. The new Flight Simulator was donated to the Youth Bureau by the Friends of the White Plains Youth Bureau. The new flight simulator will be available to community groups and after-school programs to introduce even more youths to careers in aviation.
A Youth Aviation Club is also being established by the Youth Bureau. The Aviation Club will meet twice a month. The first meeting of the month will be held in a classroom and the second meeting of the month will be a field trip. This model will allow the Youth Bureau to provide information related to each specific topic in a classroom setting first, and then reinforce that topic with a field trip for a more “hands-on” experience. Those interested in the Aviation Club are invited to reach out to Eric Rios, Program Coordinator for the Aviation Academy at the White Plains Youth Bureau, at firstname.lastname@example.org, 914-422-1378.
