This 3.2 mile, 19-acre linear park trail begins at Bryant Ave. just south of Mamaroneck Ave. and can be accessed at both Gedney Way and Ridgeway.

The Greenway provides a long path for individuals to enjoy walking in a natural setting in a protected area.

A fun fact about this park is that is that it is the former site of the NY-Westchester-Boston-Railroad.

Residents can enjoy passive recreation, picnicking, hiking and fishing in the 22-acre Silver Lake. A peaceful environment tucked away from the busy downtown, Liberty Park lends itself to quiet, contemplative relaxation.

Named in honor of city residents who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, this is the site of our 9/11 monument. This 2-acre waterfront park is located on Lake St. on the White Plains - Harrison border.

This 8.93 acre circular trailway park is located on the southeast corner of Bryant and Mamaroneck Avenue. The entrance is on the Mamaroneck Avenue side. Parking is available across the street in the City of White Plains Mamaroneck Avenue parking lot (lower level behind Dunkin Donuts, 570 Mamaroneck Avenue).

The half mile(.5 mile) rugged looped trail is perfect for hiking and exploring nature.

This park is also home of the City of White Plains Storywalk®. The StoryWalk ® combines a children's story with a popular walking route.  Children's books are selected, the pages separated, laminated, and placed along a walking path at regular intervals so readers can follow the story as they walk the route.  The StoryWalk®  is a great opportunity for parents, teachers, and caregivers to provide a fun and healthy activity for young children. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

This property has been owned by the City of White Plains since 1950 and was dedicated as a parkland that is open and accessible to the public.

Please note that the trail is natural and thus could prove to be challenging for some. Please exercise caution whilst walking on the path.

The Battle Hill Pollinator Habitat, located on Route 119 between Robertson Avenue and Chatterton Avenue, is the first of its kind in Westchester County.  Creating naturalized areas is exceedingly beneficial to the surrounding communities. The City of White Plains will continue to focus on identifying green initiatives and implementing them in an efficient and effective manner.

Benefits of naturalized areas  include:

  • climate resiliency: managing the negative effects of flooding;
  • ecological health: maintaining a healthy habitat for wildlife;
  • mental health: providing a respite for residents/visitors who desire a peaceful moment;
  • environmental health: the area will improve air and water; and
  • general beauty of the area: significantly enhanced for all of the surrounding residents

State funding was secured for this project by Assembly member Burdick, $250,000; Senator Pete Harckham, $100,000 and Senator Shelley Mayer, $38,000.

Mayor Roach said "The rewilding of a former parking lot to create a pollinator habitat in the Battle Hill neighborhood is an extraordinary accomplishment.  The Battle Hill Pollinator Habitat now serves as a critical shelter and habitat for moths, butterflies, native bees, fireflies, beetles, and hummingbirds and provides a place of respite for our residents."

The Battle Hill Pollinator Habitat boasts an impressive array of native plants, most notably: redbud, constellation dogwood, paper birch, serviceberry, oakleaf hydrangea, highbush, blueberry, blue milkweed, butterfly weed, coneflower, new york aster, and many more.  It also includes a porous pathway made from 100% organic material: decomposed granite, limestone, and crushed stone, three birdhouses, and five benches for peaceful contemplation.
