On the first day of School, who welcomes you? Spot A+ clues on the clothesline to identify all the people who make starting school so much fun! The clues in each lively verse can be spotted hanging from the clotheslines. From teacher to custodian, from crossing guard to new friends, who wears what? "High on the clothesline hang clue after clue, It's the first day of school, who wants to meet you?"
The readers are first encouraged to guess whose belongings are hanging on the clothesline. A coat; yellow hat, gloves, and safety vest; and a hand-held stop sign must belong to "your crossing guard." A classroom teacher's things include a button-down shirt, bow tie, sports coat, book bag, and a class roster. The other jobs include cafeteria cook, custodian, and gym and art teachers. The final clothesline holds myriad pants, shirts, dresses, scarves, coats, and backpacks that belong to the new friends anxious to meet readers.
The City of White Plains Recreation and Parks Department, in partnership with the White Plains Public Library, has been pleased to present StoryWalk at Bryant-Mamaroneck Park. The StoryWalk combines a children's story with a popular walking route. Children's books are selected, the pages separated, laminated, and placed along a walking path at regular intervals so readers can follow the story as they walk the route.
The StoryWalk is a great opportunity for parents, teachers, and caregivers to provide a fun and healthy activity for young children.
The Bryant-Mamaroneck Park is located on the corner of Bryant and Mamaroneck Avenues. The park entrance is on the Mamaroneck Avenue side. Parking is available in the City of White Plains Mamaroneck Avenue parking lot (lower level). The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
