Winter Safety Tips

Con Ed is preparing ahead for the expected Nor'easter as heavy rain, snow and gusty winds reach the area tonight (Monday). Con Edison has secured extra crews to respond to power outages.

Plan Ahead:

  • Have a flashlight and fresh batteries at your fingertips.
  • Make sure your cellphone and other devices are fully charged.
  • Turn your refrigerator and freezer to the coldest setting to keep your food cool longer if the power goes out.

Stay away from downed power lines. Always assume they are live.

When you report an outage at your home or business, Con Ed will respond by text, call or email with your restoration updates.  When you report the problem, you will have the opportunity to indicate how you’d like Con Ed to communicate with you.

For your safety, Con Ed may be guarding downed power lines until crews make repairs. Con Ed personnel may be in unmarked cars, but will always have identification.
