Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents March 15, 2021

CWP seal

The data is continuing to show a decline in active COVID cases in White Plains. There are currently an estimated 304 active cases in our City, down 23 from our call last week. Over the past 7 days, we have averaged 21 new cases per day.  Covid related hospitalizations are now 252 in Westchester County, continuing their decline. Additional Covid data is available on the County’s dashboard, which can be accessed through cityofwhiteplains.com.

The State has expanded vaccine eligibility to those 60 years and older, and, as of this Wednesday, public-facing government and non-profit employees, and building service workers will be eligible. If you are currently eligible, I urge you to take this opportunity to schedule an appointment, as eligibility categories will likely expand further in the near future.

There are several ways to do this. You can check the State website, covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov or call the State Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829) to check for openings at the County Center as well as other state–run vaccination sites. We recommend that you check this site regularly at all times of day as appointment availability comes and goes quickly.

If you are currently eligible for the vaccine, reside in the City of White Plains, and need assistance securing an appointment for a vaccination, please call our White Plains COVID Angels at (914) 422-1378 between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. These volunteers have been doing an amazing job helping our community get vaccinated. My sincere thanks to all of them.

Westchester County ParaTransit is now offering Free rides to vaccination appointments to seniors and the disabled. To schedule your ride, please call (914) 995-7272.

Those who are fully vaccinated no longer need to quarantine if they are around someone who is ill or if they have traveled to another state as of April 1st.

Our next call is on Monday, March 22nd. Until then remember, we’re standing together by staying apart.
