Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents, Sept. 21st, 2020

Seal - gold and blue

The most recent data provided by the county today indicates the cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 1, 964. The county estimates the number of active cases in White Plains to be 21.

The number of new cases we are seeing is currently very low however we are continuing to see new cases, a reminder the virus is still out there. Until there is a vaccine available that will protect us all we must continue to work together as a community to prevent the virus from finding a new foothold. The benefits of wearing a mask and the risks of not wearing one have been demonstrated repeatedly, around the world. If you are talking to someone who says masks are not necessary or helpful you are in conversation with someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about. Walk away! And keep wearing your mask!

The flu vaccine is here, I got mine Friday. Higher than normal demand for the shot is expected, I would encourage everyone to get theirs as soon as possible.

Tomorrow is National Voter Registration Day! If you haven’t registered to vote you only have until October 9th. If you are already registered to vote make a plan now for voting. There were long lines on the date of the most recent primary and turnout for the general election is expected to be high. There are several voting options available, including by absentee ballot, in-person early voting, and in-person on Election Day.  Information on all these issues is available at the County Board of Elections website and also on the City of White Plains website.

Our next call will be on Tuesday, September 29th.  Until then remember, we are standing together by staying apart.
