Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents July 13, 2020

Seal - gold and blue

The most recent data provided by the county today indicates the cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 1,848.The county estimates the number of active cases in White Plains to be 31.

There are currently 44 people hospitalized in the county due to COVID.   Our numbers continue to look good but it remains vital that we all continue to follow the social distancing and mask guidelines. Please wear your masks, and wear them properly, covering your mouth and nose. This simple act may make the difference in whether we continue on a positive track or return to lock down.

We are now in Phase 4 of the reopening process, the last designated phase. Going forward, any further modifications to existing restrictions will be issued by the Governor through Executive Orders.

The White Plains Department of Public Safety has asked me to remind you of some basic common sense public safety tips. First, please remember to lock your car, even if it is parked in your driveway. Please do not leave the key or key fob in the car. Westchester County has seen an increase in cars being stolen when they are left unlocked and/or keys are left inside including in White Plains.  Second, never buy gift cards, money cards, etc. at the direction of someone who engages you over the phone or online for any reason.

Both City pools -- Kittrell and Gardella -- are now open for residents. We have made operating changes to ensure that you can enjoy the pools safely and comfortably. Reservations will be required as part of our new protocols. Check cityofwhiteplains.com for more information.

Our next call is scheduled for Monday, July 20th. Until then remember, we are standing together by staying apart.
