New York State now has approximately 292,000 positive cases. The total number tested in Westchester is 87736; the number of people who have tested positive in the county is just over 28,000. The county currently estimates the number of active cases in the county to be 8221. The current number of Westchester residents hospitalized in the county due to Covid19 is 877. We did not receive locality specific numbers today as of 5pm.
There were 3 City of White Plains- Feeding Westchester food distributions today at Eastview School, Slater Center and Church Street. Thank you to the efficient volunteers who made quick work of sorting, packing and distributing two truckloads of food this morning and this afternoon. Tomorrow there will be another distribution at Eastview.
Westchester County taxes are due April 30th. The City of White Plains is required to collect these taxes and forward them to the county. We are waiving the penalty and interest fees on the County taxes until July 15 2020 for individuals and businesses who request an extension, submit proof of financial hardship as defined by the county and who are otherwise eligible under the guidelines established by the county. As a reminder, individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 which include fever, cough and congestion can walk in to be tested at White Plains Hospital Emergency Department.
