Hello, this is WP Mayor Tom Roach calling with important information regarding the Covid19 Pandemic. Para espanol oprima el numero nueve.
New York State now has 271,590 positive cases. The total number tested in Westchester is 81,553; the number of people who have tested positive in the county is 26,633. The County Executive said that the number of active cases in the county is now estimated to be 8,556. The number of Westchester residents hospitalized in the county is down to 953. The number of people who have tested positive and reside at addresses within the City of White Plains is 1147 according to the most recent data received from the county yesterday.
White Plains is a community of neighborhoods. Please check in on your neighbors who might not be able to go to the store to get food and help if you can. Please reach out to: feedingwp@whiteplainsny.gov if you can afford food but are homebound and can’t arrange delivery or, if you are having difficulty affording food we can put you in touch with the many ongoing food distributions taking place throughout the city. Feeding Westchester Confirmed the city for 2 truckloads of food that will be distributed from Eastview School, Slater Center, and Church Street School on Monday. We are working with volunteers to arrange delivery of groceries to the homebound on Monday—please email and include your address. Again, please reach out to feedingwp@whiteplainsny.gov. United Way’s 2-1-1 Helpline is a free, confidential, multilingual service to assist the public in finding the answers to a variety of Health and Human Services related questions. It is open 365 days a year.
As a reminder, individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 which include fever, cough and congestion can walk in to be tested at White Plains Hospital Emergency Department.
If you have recovered from the coronavirus, you are encouraged to donate your plasma. Please see the NY Blood Center’s website at nybc.org to fill out the donor request form. We are advised that the Red Cross is also accepting donations. The demand is high and you may save a life.
