Feeding Westchester 

Driven by the belief that access to healthy food is a basic right for all people, Feeding Westchester leads hunger action programs and mobilizes the resources needed to eradicate hunger in Westchester County.

NY STATE SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS OLD 

 Text “food” to 877-877, then text your complete address, you will receive a list of schools nearby providing free breakfast/lunch.


UNITED WAY TEAMS UP WITH FEEDING WESTCHESTER AND DOORDASH FOR SUMMER PROGRAM

United Way of Westchester and Putnam is teaming up with Feeding Westchester and DoorDash to provide supplemental fresh produce to low-income families of school-aged children during the summer months. The program will run weekly through Labor Day.

Families with students that qualify for free or reduced lunch will also receive books and/or activities throughout the program.

The program is limited to 500 households within a 10-mile delivery radius of Feeding Westchester. You must be a resident of White Plains, Elmsford, Tarrytown, or Sleepy Hollow to participate.

Need Groceries? Supplies? If you are in need of these, know you will have someone to help. A coordinated network will be set up as follows:

  • 1) Send Linda an email or phone her to let her know your needs. In turn, she will contact a volunteer to assist you who will then contact you (be sure to give Linda your contact information). The volunteer will then speak with you directly.
  • 2) The Shopping Sister will then shop your list and deliver to you to an agreed upon location (your home, apartment, etc.) and time.
  • 3) Upon completion of your shopping, the Shopping Sister will let you know the bill. You will then leave a check/cash for her in a mailbox or agreed upon location


Family Services of Westchester  

RideConnect, a program of Family Services of Westchester, has been providing volunteer based transportation for over 10 years to older adults in Westchester & Southern Putnam counties. These rides are for medical, shopping, social visits, religious services and more. At this time, while RideConnect continues to provide this volunteer based transportation for critical medical appointments, they  have also enlisted volunteers to do essential shopping for older adults such as groceries, and medication pick-ups. Meals-on-Wheels of White Plains is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers with a commitment to delivering both food and compassion to  neighbors in need. Meals-on-Wheels of White Plains serves members of our community who are unable to shop or prepare adequate meals themselves. ANTIBODY TESTING

Westchester County government, in conjunction with the Westchester Medical Center, is offering COVID-19 antibody testing at the Westchester County Center. Antibody testing may show if an individual has ever been infected with the virus, even if they did not have symptoms. It is important to note that this test does not detect active infection. For that you need Diagnostic testing. If you are interested in getting an antibody test, call 914.326.2060 to schedule an appointment at the Westchester County Center on Route 119. Testing is available Monday through Saturday,  an appointment is required. To schedule an appointment call (914) 326-2060. In most cases, results are shared within 48 hours.

Executive Order regarding Face Masks

All persons must wear facial coverings when visiting or patronizing businesses and when working at or for such businesses, including groceries and pharmacies;  food service businesses, including restaurants, cafes and delis that provide carry out, walk up or delivery service; construction sites; public transit vehicles or facilities; vehicles for hire, including taxis; and when visiting any location where social distancing of at least six feet from another person is not possible.  All delivery, service and repair workers must wear facial coverings when they are within 6 feet of the entrance to or on the premises of any office, business or residence.   Facial coverings include any covering which snugly covers the mouth and nose, whether store bought or homemade, and which is secured with ties or ear loops. This Emergency Order which requires the wearing of facial coverings does not change or alter any operational or social distancing requirements imposed by NYS Executive Order.

Masks are required inside public establishments and outside when it is likely you will be within 6 feet of others such as on the sidewalk or while on the running tracks.

Interest and Penalties on Late Payment of County Taxes Waived for Qualified Taxpayers

The City of White Plains has waived interest and penalties on late payment of County taxes for qualified taxpayers.  County tax bills are payable until April 30th without penalties or interests, but for those taxpayers who meet the qualifying standards, the bills may be paid until July 15th without penalty or interest. NY FORWARD REOPENING PLAN

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the Mid-Hudson Region, of which Westchester County is a part, has met all 7 metrics required to begin phase one of the state’s regional phased reopening plan starting Tuesday, May 26. Phase one includes construction, manufacturing and wholesale supply chain, retail for curbside pickup and drop-off or in-store pickup, and agriculture, forestry and fishing.

A reminder to businesses: All businesses must file an affirmation with New York State indicating that they have reviewed the reopening guidance provided by the state and understand their obligation to operate in accordance with that guidance. NY FORWARD PHASE 3

Governor Cuomo has announced that the Mid-Hudson region which includes Westchester County has been cleared to enter Phase Three of reopening effective Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Phase 3 includes the fololwing industries:


Restaurants/Food Services establishments, including food trucks, and other food concessions

  • Establishments may open indoor and outdoor spaces with seating for customers, in accordance with this guidance, and provided that customers can be seated at tables that are appropriately distanced. 
  • Restaurants with bar seating can open the area, provided customers are seated and can be distanced appropriately. Consumption of any dine-in food and/or beverage must only occur while customers are seated at tables or bar tops in these spaces. 
  • Indoor capacity is limited to no more than 50% of the maximum occupancy for a particular area as set by the certificate of occupancy, exclusive of employees. 

 Personal Care

  • Personal care businesses and services including tattoo and piercing facilities, appearance enhancement practitioners, massage therapy, spas, cosmetology, nail specialty, UV and non-UV tanning, or waxing. 
  • The facility is limited to no more than 50% of the maximum occupancy for a particular area as set by the certificate of occupancy, inclusive of customers, who must maintain six feet of separation from others, except during the service, and, in all cases, must only be permitted entry into the facility if they wear an acceptable face covering; provided, however, that the customer is over the age of two and able to medically tolerate such a covering. 

Low Risk Sports 

This guidance is effective immediately for the statewide permitted outdoor, low-risk recreational activities, as determined by the Empire State Development, which is currently limited to the following: 

  • Tennis; non-motorized boat use and rentals, such as row boats, kayaks, canoes; golf and driving ranges, except miniature (mini) golf, with food and retail services subject to the restrictions that are currently in effect within the region; racket games, such as badminton, racquetball; toss/bowl games, such horseshoes, bocce, bean bag toss, croquet; flying disc games, such as disc golf and Frisbee; shuffleboard; zip lining; rope courses, including aerial rope courses; batting cages; shooting ranges; and swim classes and swim instruction.

NYS Executive Order which Governs Moratorium on Eviction

The state’s moratorium on COVID-related residential and commercial evictions will be extended until August 20. New York is also banning fees for late or missed payments during the eviction moratorium. Renters facing financial hardship due to COVID-19 are also allowed to use their security deposit as payment and repay their security deposit over time.
