FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMS:

Feeding Westchester has initiated drive thru food distribution at locations around the county. In order to receive service, individuals should fill out a form to be notified of the next distribution time and location. To access the form please go to: https://info.feedingwestchester.org/drive-thru-food-distribution .


RideConnect of Family Services of Westchester has set up a shopping program for older adults to help keep them safely at home. Volunteers get a client’s grocery list, do the shopping and drop the groceries off at the client’s home. If you need help shopping for groceries or medications, call them at (914) 242-7433.


Meals on Wheels White Plains delivers meals to households in White Plains.  They are making deliveries twice a week and providing a frozen meal for the days they don’t visit. They have initiated a no-contact delivery method. if you would like to sign up for meal delivery through Meals on Wheels White Plains, please call (914) 946-6878.


Lifting Up Westchester operates a Soup Kitchen at 33 Church Street. Meals are served from 10:30 – 11:30 AM every Monday through Friday.


The White Plains Community Action Partnership Emergency Food Pantry is open by appointment only. Call (914) 428-7030 to make an appointment.

SUPERMARKETS - Special Hours/Lanes: 

Whole Foods Market - Located on Bloomingdale Road. Customers over 60 years old can shop one hour early, 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM each day.

Stop and Shop - Both locations - Westchester Avenue and North Broadway. Customers over 60 years old as well as customers with compromised immune systems can shop from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM each day.

ShopRite - Located in City Center. Customers over 60 years old can shop from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM each day.

Trader Joe’s - Located on central Avenue in Hartsdale. Seniors have a special shopping line from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM each day.

H Mart - Located on Central Avenue in Hartsdale. The first hour that the store is open each day, 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM., is reserved for seniors, pregnant women and the handicapped.


COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS:

City of White Plains Recreation and Parks is sending out a weekly newsletter for all ages. Please call (914) 422-1336 to be added to the email list.

White Plains Public Library has reconfigured its website to prioritize its digital resources and streaming media options. Access the Library website by clicking here: https://whiteplainslibrary.org/. The Library also continues to send out weekly e-newsletters that highlight virtual activities and resources for adults, teens and children. Sign up through the website.

United Way of Westchester and Putnam has a 24/7 help line. Dial 211 and press “2” for connections to Coronavirus-related resources.

DOROT of Westchester offers a Telephone Friends program for people over 60 years old who would like to develop a connection with a volunteer over the phone. Call Cippi Harte at (914) 573-8906.

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) has geriatric care managers available to assist seniors (age 60 and over) by phone. Their staff can provide information and referrals to help seniors get what they need. Seniors can call Judy Fink at (914)761-0600, ext. 2340.

Many local restaurants are offering curbside pickup, take-out, and/or delivery. Some food delivery apps, including UberEats, are waiving their delivery fees.
