The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for today through Monday, February 23^rd. Snow is expected to start in the late afternoon. It will be heavy with significant accumulation and strong winds through tonight, tapering off in the late afternoon-early evening on Monday. As such, garbage pick-up will be suspended tomorrow. Garbage collection will resume on Tuesday on the normal schedule. 

The City’s Department of Public Works crews will be working through the storm to clear roads as quickly as possible.  In order to enable DPW to do their job, it is vital that vehicles not be left parked on the street. As a courtesy, the City of White Plains is offering free parking to White Plains residents for vehicles registered to addresses within the City of White Plains in the Hamilton-Main Garage starting at 1:00 PM Today through 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24^th. Please note:  Residents may park in any space in the Hamilton-Main Garage, including spaces marked for permit holders and spaces marked for hourly users.

We also encourage residents who have permits to park in city-owned outdoor lots to move their cars to the Hamilton-Main Garage. Moving cars out of these lots enables the City to clear them more completely and quickly for residents’ use.

All other garages, lots and on-street parking will remain subject to normal enforcement. There will be strict enforcement of the City’s ban on overnight, on-street parking, as vehicles left on the street impair the City’s ability to clear snow, creating hazardous conditions and lengthening the storm’s impact.

El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional ha emitido una Alerta de Ventisca para hoy y hasta el lunes 23 de febrero. Se espera que la nieve empiece a última hora de la tarde. Será intenso, con acumulación significativa y vientos fuertes durante esta noche, disminuyendo a última hora de la tarde o temprano por la noche del lunes. Por tanto, la recogida de basura se suspenderá mañana. La recogida de basura se reanudará el martes según el horario habitual.

Los equipos del Departamento de Obras Públicas de la ciudad trabajarán durante la tormenta para despejar las carreteras lo antes posible.  Para que el DPW pueda hacer su trabajo, es vital que no se dejen vehículos aparcados en la calle. Como cortesía, la Ciudad de White Plains ofrece aparcamiento gratuito a los residentes de White Plains para vehículos registrados en direcciones dentro de la Ciudad de White Plains en el garaje Hamilton-Main desde la 1:00 PM hasta las 10:00 AM del martes 24 de febrero. 

Por favor, tenga en cuenta: Los residentes pueden aparcar en cualquier espacio del garaje Hamilton-Main, incluyendo los espacios marcados para titulares de permisos y los espacios reservados para usuarios por horas. 

También animamos a los residentes que tengan permisos a aparcar en aparcamientos exteriores propiedad de la ciudad a trasladar sus coches al garaje Hamilton-Main. Mover coches de estos aparcamientos permite a la ciudad despejarlos de forma más completa y rápida para el uso de los residentes. 

Todos los demás garajes, aparcamientos y aparcamientos en la calle seguirán sujetos a la aplicación normal. Se aplicará estrictamente la prohibición de la ciudad de aparcar nocturno en la calle, ya que los vehículos que quedan en la calle dificultan la capacidad de la ciudad para despejar la nieve, creando condiciones peligrosas y alargando el impacto de la tormenta.
