New Summer Story at Bryant-Mamaroneck Park StoryWalk

Giant the Lion, The Lion Who Could Swim” is a touching tale of a lion cub named Giant who wants nothing more than to swim. Giant is going to learn to swim, but he is a little nervous. With good friends to cheer him on, however, Giant bravely wades in with both paws and soon is kicking and paddling and swimming circles with the rest of his friends. After a lot of practice and encouragement from his friends, Giant finds that he has become good enough to compete in an upcoming swim competition on the lake. Young readers will find much to relate to as Giant experiences a childhood first, and what it means to never give up.

The StoryWalk, a partnership between the
City of White Plains Recreation and Parks Department and the White Plains Public Library, combines a children's story with a popular walking route.  Children's books are selected, the pages separated, laminated, and placed along a walking path at regular intervals so readers can follow the story as they walk the route.  The StoryWalk is a great way to inspire parents, teachers, and care givers to take young children on a short stroll and introduce them to a new book at the same time.

This month’s StoryWalk will run from Saturday, July 22, through Thursday, August 31st
