A White Plains summertime tradition: Shakespeare in the Park is back for its third year and the Shakespeare in the Park’s community following has grown by leaps and bounds.

Picnicking is encouraged! So gather your friends and family, bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and settle in for what is sure to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Refreshments will be available for sale. In the case of rain, the production will be moved indoors to the theater at the White Plains Performing Arts Center at 11 City Place

“We are so pleased to be able to continue to offer this, family-friendly event to our residents in conjunction with ArtsWestchester,” said Mayor Roach. “There truly is an event for everyone in White Plains. This performance of Shakespeare’s As You Like It will continue our tradition of providing exciting programming to our residents.”

Janet Langsam, CEO of Arts Westchester added, the summer tradition of Shakespeare in the Park is a perfect example of how the arts are alive in White Plains keeping the city vibrant and energized for residents and visitors alike. Not only do the arts spark creativity, but they are good for business - - for the local merchants and the city’s downtown in general.”

This event has been made possible in part by our primary sponsor ArtsWestchester. Additional sponsors of Shakespeare in the Park include: Peckham Industries, Webster Bank and the White Plains Public Library Foundation.

About “As You Like It” - "Love is merely a madness" in As You Like It, Shakespeare’s romantic comedy featuring thwarted lovers, a clown and women disguised as men. Banished Rosalind finds Orlando and a world of passionate possibility in the Forest of Arden. Enchantment abounds as chance encounters blossom into the entanglement of love. Through mischievous misunderstandings, pleasing poetry and hilarious happenstance, As You Like It shows that the forces of romance and justice can make an out-of-kilter world right again.
